This is the 4th Year that we have been sharing our naturally grown produce with our local friends, family, and community in the Pine Bush & Mid-Hudson Valley region. We are now
fully Certified Naturally Grown in our farm operation in this 3rd Year!
Per the
Nearly 500 farmers from 47 states are enrolled to use the Certified Naturally Grown label. When USDA's Organic program was implemented in 2002, organic farms earning more than $5,000 per year were forced to make a choice that for many was difficult: either pay high certification fees and complete mounds of paperwork to become Certified Organic, or else give up using the word "organic" to describe their produce and/or livestock. Believing that neither choice was very attractive, some farmers created Certified Naturally Grown to provide an alternative way to assure their customers that they observed strict organic growing practices. CNG strives to strengthen the organic movement by preserving high organic standards and removing financial barriers that tend to exclude smaller farms that sell locally and directly to their customers. CNG farmers adhere to CNG's Certification Standards and inspections that are based on the highest principles and ideals of organic farming. CNG's Program Requirements are reasonable and affordable, and many farmers find the inspection process itself a valuable learning experience. CNG's Certification Standards are based on the USDA Organic Standards, but Certified Naturally Grown is an independent program not accredited by or in any way affiliated with USDA's National Organic Program. CNG is nationally recognized and endorsed, and it exists because of enormous volunteer efforts. Our specific farm's Application, Grower's Declaration, and Inspection Reports can be found at following link (scroll down to PineLined Farms in the NY farm list). The weather this year has been perfect for growing vegetables! We have a nice variety of mid-summer produce to choose from and much more on the way toward summer's end and into the Fall. Soil management is an ongoing effort and we mange our land and water table aggressively & seriously. Through simple techniques of crop rotation, soil analysis, and proper drip irrigation, we are conditioning our land to provide the best possible Naturally Grown Produce for years & generations to come. Please, stop by our road-side stand and sample some of our produce and homemade offerings!
